Paul Stanley: Rock idol to the Rockbrat and millions around the planet. In the late 70’s and 80’s he was the coolest of cool.  Check out the intro on the ‘Kiss Meets The Phantom Of the Park’ film where he dances and struts to ‘Rock n Roll All Nite’ – that is a rock star. Around 1988 he had the extension thing happening on his locks, but otherwise his hair was always cool. Rumours of a wig-wearing Starchild has been around for some time, and if you look at some of the photos from around 1993/4 his do kinda looked odd – though I am not sure if he did actually have any work done to it. It’s always been hard to tell during the late 90’s re-union of he was wigged up or not. I do know that if you saw any of his ‘Live To Win’ shows from a few years back, that toupee-hat he was sporting looked damn ridiculous. Grab a Kiss razor (do they make them?) and just shave it off for pete’s sake. Satriani did and is still super-cool – and say what you what about ‘Space’ Ace Frehley – but he remains cool to this day. Yeah he’s older, a little thinning up top to boot, and his days of ‘living the life’ have caught up with him. But he don’t care. He plugs in and let’s his fingers do the talking. By the way, ‘Live To Win’ is an outstanding album and wig or no wig – that Paul Stanley gig was one of the best show’s Mr Rockbrat and Cowboy Col have witnessed. Entrant #4: Stanley Eisen.

  1. It had never occurred to me that their might be syrups on these guys. (And on so many rockers). Thanks for this illuminating series – I will be on guard in future and on the look out….
